The world is going computerized at lightning speed. This statement might sound obsolete but it’s hard to deny its vitality. Today practically any electronic device is somehow connected with a standard PC/laptop or stands for a computing machine itself. In this communication PCs function as ‘brains’ allowing to efficiently manage all connected devices: tune them, adjust their parameters, optimize performance, correct errors, etc.

The variety of devices which might be connected to a computer would surprise even a worldly-wise IT expert. If you think that computers welcome only hardware pieces and accompanying peripherals, you’re definitely wrong. The range of equipment that is possible to interconnect with the ‘brains’ is absolutely limitless. Here are only a few examples of them:

  • external HDD, various storages (network included), mice, keyboards, controllers, modems, flash drives, adapters;
  • mobile and digital gadgets (cellular phones, smartphones, tablets, cameras);
  • gaming consoles and accessories;
  • car infotainment items;
  • video/audio multimedia devices;
  • TVs, displays, Blu-ray;
  • home appliances (lamps, cleaners, etc.);
  • electronic goods (ashtrays, dock stations, heating-up devices, clocks, and so on).
Furthermore, all those devices feature dedicated interfaces (internal and external) compliant with the ones present in PC. The most wide-spread types of connections are USB, PCI/PCI Express, FireWire, audio jacks, and outdated ports for human interface devices.
