Panasonic Corporation - a large Japanese engineering corporation, one of the world's largest manufacturers of home appliances and electronic products. Headquarters - in Kadoma Osaka Prefecture (Japan). In 2011, the company was ranked 50th in terms of revenue in the global ranking of Fortune Global 500 companies.
Prior to October 1, 2008 was known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. Panasonic (like National, National Panasonic, Technics, Quasar) was one of the brands of the company.
Since its inception in 1918, the company was known as Matsushita Electric Housewares Manufacturing Works, which was changed to Matsushita Electric Manufacturing Works in 1929. Name of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. the company was in 1935, when it became a joint-stock corporation. Although the company used the Panasonic and National brands for a long time, in 2003 it was decided that the brand "Panasonic" will become as a global brand to enhance competitiveness in the global market along with their slogan - "Panasonic ideas for life".
The company consists of 638 enterprises. Major brands under which the products are produced:
Panasonic (consumer electronics to the mass market, including plasma screens, DVD-players, telephones, projectors, digital cameras, as well as computer chips, car equipment);
Technics (Audio, since 2008, used only for professional music equipment for DJing);
Lumix (Panasonic Lumix) - sub-brand family of digital cameras Panasonic. Under the brand Lumix produced a wide range of vehicles from compact to SLR cameras.
