About eMachines
eMachines - PC brand entry-level, since 2007 owned by Acer. EMachines originally hired about 135 employees and sold between 1-2 million computers each year before 30 January 2004 it was bought by rival Gateway Computers. Gateway Computers was bought by Acer, eMachines and the name continues to be used for the name of personal computers.
Since 2012, the brand is not used.
eMachines as a brand appeared in the United States in 1998, supported by the Korean manufacturer monitors Korea Data Systems, a Korean computer manufacturer TriGem and many other investors. The company announced PC models at prices of $ 299, $ 399, $ 499 and $ 599 for everything except the monitor. At this time, few PCs sold less than $ 699, and $ 999 was more than the regular price for the entry-level computers. The first units were shipped in November of the same year.
In late 2011, CEO of Acer JT Wang said the company's transition to a new development strategy, according to which the company's attention will be focused on the more expensive Ultrabooks and other mobile devices, the highest price category. In the Russian press conference Acer, held on 24 May 2012, it was announced that the brand eMachines "until frozen" and "new products with this logo will not appear", nevertheless the possibility of returning to the use of the brand still permitted. And in January 2013, it was officially confirmed by the decision of the completion of all operations connected with the brand eMachines.
