An optical instrument, which is used to record images that can be stored, transferred to another destination or both, is known as a camera. The images may be photographs, pictures or moving images like movies or videos. The word ‘camera’ has been derived from the words ‘camera obscura’ (Latin words for “dark chamber”, an early adopted mechanism used for projecting photographs or images. Modern camera evolved from camera obscura. The camera functioning is very much like the human eye functioning.
A device, which captures different images from posters, photographic prints, magazine pages and other such similar sources, for the purpose of computer editing as well as display is known as a scanner. There are different types of scanners, namely – hand held, feed in and flatbed, black and white and colored. For the purpose of high resolution and crystal clear printing, high resolution scanners are used. However, lower resolution scanners are sufficient to capture different images for the purpose of computer display. Scanners generally have software, like the product – Adobe’s Photoshop, allowing you to resize or modify a particular image that was captured.
