Lenovo buys from IBM server business for 2,3 billion dollars

The Chinese producer of desktop computers, laptops, and also tablets and smartphones, buys the division which is engaged in creation and realization of servers on processors with architecture of x86 from the IBM company.

The amount of transaction will make 2,3 billion dollars - thus 2 billion will be paid by "cash", and the rest - the stocks Lenovo.

«Server business» - not the first purchase of Lenovo at IBM. In 2005 Chinese redeemed the division which is engaged in production of personal computers from IBM.

Within the new transaction, Lenovo will receive from IBM such lines of products, as System x, Blade Center and Flex System, the integrated Flex systems on the basis of x86 processors, NeXt Scale and iData Plex servers with the accompanying software.

At this IBM will not cease to be engaged in servers - at her order there are mainframes of System z, Power Systems, Storage Systems, Flex servers on own processors of the Power company, and also Pure Application and Pure Data.

After closing of the transaction of Lenovo will receive under the control service of already existing clients of IBM, at this IBM will divide with Lenovo a part of guarantee certificates before clients and after the transaction. At the same time about 7 500 employees of IBM worldwide become workers of Lenovo.

Lenovo very happy with the strategic acquisition and argue that it will give to the company big priority in long prospect. And IBM, meanwhile, continues to get rid of "hard actives" assets, being focused on hi-tech program development.
